Belt System

IBJJF Belt System (16 years old+)
Explanation and conditions:
- Each block/period represents a “stripe” on the belt which represents the student’s advancement through the belt system.
- For example, a student begins with a white belt. After one month, they receive one stripe. After another month, they receive their second stripe. Then after two months the third stripe is granted. After two more months, they receive their fourth (and last) stripe. Two months after that, they receive their blue belt, which would be 8 months from when they started training.
- IMPORTANT: Advancement through the belt system requires a minimum of 2 days per week attendance. Stripes or belts will not be revoked for non-attendance but it will slow down the student’s advancement.
- IMPORTANT: Gi training (training with full uniform) is a mandatory requirement for promotion. The 2 days per week minimum requirement must be Gi training.

IBJJF Belt System (Kids 4-15 years old)
- The Black stripes represents commitment shown through six months of training, without missing or arriving late for any class.
- The student receives one stripe per month and changes belt only if the required age is achieved.
- After receiving all possible stripes, the student remains on the belt until the required age is reached.
