Going to the gym was always something painful and boring for me. Any excuse was enough to keep me home. Joining Marcio Cruz BJJ Academy was definitely a life change. I dropped 20 pounds and sculpted my body in 5 months, but that’s not all: I gained a new family of real friends who care about me and make me feel like staying even after class is over. I love this place and its people.
A friendly family oriented Dojo which is run by an actual Brazilian family, there two locations one in Pebble Creek/Wesley Chapeland another one in Carrolwood. there is also on Saturdays an all female class on the Wesley Chapel whit the excellent coach Arianna Cruz.
For new comer and UFC fan who want to get into BJJ i think its and excellent place to start there, there Gi ( the uniform used) classes and No-Gi (the one you see in UFC).
If you are into competition this is the place to be, there a competition class every Friday they are very active in tournaments they won 2nd place on a BJJ tournament in Orlando last week.
If not convinced, i personally i think BJJ is excellent workout which is the main reason i go, Gyms bore me to death might as well learn a new martial arts and get in shape. i joined after my Fiancee wanted to go to an all female class after watching her i became convinced, i always had respiratory problems so i always needed to work out but haven't in 3 years, and i am surprised in 2 months how i got more cardio than before, i feel healthier, stronger and more energy.
If that not your cup of tea there are 2 Yoga Instructors one on each location, Muay Thai classes, Conditioning class, and Children classes the kids seem to enjoy themselves and they seem to get along pretty well.
They are wonderful at teaching the children confidence, respect and how to defend themselves.
